    9 Tips for Survival in '09

    Let’s kick the New Year off right! The year 2009 promises to be a tough economic time, but it will be manageable for the non-profit world if we keep our cool, use our imagination and apply some common sense rules to doing business. And we may have to try some new and alternative techniques in our fundraising programs.

    Resolve, Determination and Tenacity: Philanthropy in Difficult Economic Times

    It couldn't have come at a worse time. Public broadcasters were scheduling or into their pledge drives; service organizations, libraries and museums were planning their holiday and year-end direct mail campaigns; candidates were out looking for that last influx of cash before Election Day.

    The credit crunch and resulting financial crisis has devalued people's homes and their 401(k)s. And the resulting economic morass has put a lot of good people out of work.

    Are You Getting the Most From it?

    Email marketing should take its place as an important component of your integrated marketing strategy. It takes work to get it right, though. First, get permission from your constituents to email them, then make sure your messages are relevant, timely, and deliverable. That’s just the beginning though. Those who want to see results from their investment of time and money have to use the direct response segmentation skills they’ve honed in offline marketing efforts and apply them to their online campaigns.
